Don't know why, but the gallery isn't working at the moment. Stay tuned...

This is the first time I've actually clicked on a link to add a blog post.
Seriously, I'm not kidding.
Before this post, I had to remember a URL string that passed variables to the script handling the blog functions to get to the input screen. You can see now why I didn't really do much entry before now. I don't know what's happened to spur this unprecedented amount of coding, but I have a sneaking suspicion that it is the amount of PHP coding I've had to do at my job. Anyhow, with any luck, I will actually FINISH the functionality I originally intended for the site
By the way, the "Misc" menu item will now start showing links for more content (Modules I am now starting to write) and extra items within specific content areas. All I need is a spacer between the menu item types. OH JASON... Help a guy out, would ya?

Sooooooooooo, after 2 years and 9 months, I decided to finally update this blog.
So much has happened. First of all, I got the job in San Diego. In October of 2010, my boss was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and passed away January 7, 2011 at around 11:50 PM. I took over his job responsibilities and for the next year and a half, I was basically an IT Manager (managing a whole two people). I learned a ton of stuff regarding NetApp filers and TSM (hopefully web crawlers won't index this site...); however, I decided to move back to the Seattle area and get back into my house.
I made this decision very early and was kind enough to my employer to allow them to start a search for my replacement and about a month of hand-off training. In that time I actually found a job in Seattle while I was living in San Diego. The crazy thing in my move was that my last day was on Thursday, June 7 and my first day at my new job was Tuesday June 11. I know I should have given myself a bit more time but the whole paycheck thing was on my mind. :)
So, what prompted this blog post? Well my friend Jason, who did the graphics on this site noted that the "Misc" menu item has had the mouseover broken since I created it, AND that I never updated the blog. So don't look now my friend, but the Misc mouseover is FIXED. I just need to know what I need to put in there.
Maybe we will start on Liquid Cooled version 2.0...

Just when I thought it was safe to sit back for a few weeks and take life easy, I find out that the job announcement for the position in San Diego is closing on the 10th. Nice. Now all the decisions I was putting off making will need to be decided on in the next two weeks. Not that the job is a total slam dunk, but I need to at least HINT that I am seriously looking into relocating. Besides, I probably need to get the correct information so that I can make an informed decision.

Well, last week, the company's Exchange server decided to stop warning us about logical errors on the drive that stored its database and just start taking a dump. Needless to say, I worked some overtime. 26 hours straight (I was at the office, so a 2 hour cat nap doesn't count) at one point. Needless to say, my day/night schedule got screwed up.
On a technical note, I called the Microsoft Exchange team (based in India) and they promptly responded to the first call, but I had to do a database restore that took a few hours. Of course, I didn't stay on the phone with the guy, but maybe I should have. After calling back, it took them 12 hours (when they said they would call back in "about 2 hours"). Needless to say, I wasn't a happy camper.
Anyhow, I'm still in San Diego, and still have my sanity. I guess you can't ask for much else.
